The appointment of a Police Inspector will be made through promotion by appointment to
Junior Police Inspectors have completed six years of continuous service in the field
and information for at least one year on PAP or PTS will be considered additional
eligibility for promotion or transfer to Inspector Cipher depends on eligibility for
posts. Appointments will be made by the Interdepartmental Development Committee
Secretary-General of the Government of Puducherry, as its chairman and Auditor-General of
The Police and the Superintendent of Police as their members.

The appointment of a single Police Inspector (Wireless) position will be made by
promotions, by appointment, to regular Radio executives who have completed 6 years
continuous service to the grade, by the Departmental Development Committee comprising
Chairman (Secretary General to the Government of Puducherry) and two members (the
Chief Inspector of Police and Chief Superintendent of Police, Puducherry).
