The Indian Navy is an equal and cohesive three-dimensional force, capable of operating above, above and below the ocean, defending the interests of our country.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Marine Corps (CNS) uses the command and control of the Indian Navy from the Integrated Ministry of Defense (Navy) headquarters. He is assisted by the Deputy Chief of Staff (VCNS) and three other Chief Operating Officers, the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCNS), the Chief Operating Officer (COP) and the Chief Operating Officer (COM).
The Navy has the following three Commandments, each under the auspices of the Chief Flag: –
Western Naval Command (Headquarters in Mumbai).Eastern Naval Command (Headquarters in Visakhapatnam)Southern Naval Command (Headquarters in Kochi)Western and Eastern Maritime Commands are the ‘Operating Commandments’, and governs operations in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal . Southern Command is a Training Command.
The edge of the Indian Navy has two fleets, Western Fleet, based in Mumbai and Eastern Fleet, based in Visakhapatnam. Apart from the Fleets, there are individual Flotilla, based in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Port Blair (A & N Islands), which provide Local Naval Defense in their respective regions. Naval vessels are also located in some ports along the east and west coasts of India and island areas, thus ensuring the continued presence of warships in areas of national interest. Besides, there are various Naval Officer-in-Charges (NOICs), under each mandate, responsible for the Protection of Local Marine Vessels under their territories.

Protecting the Andaman & Nicobar Islands is the responsibility of all three services and is coordinated by the headquarters, Andaman & Nicobar Command, in PortBlair. This is the end of the Tri-ServicesCommand in the Indian Armed Forces and is led by the Commander-in-Chief, as he has been appointed from three missions.
